Spontaneous Makeshift Pizza

It was a spontaneous thought based on a random craving at 6:30pm on this fine Friday night…- “let’s eat pizza for dinner”. I didn’t have any frozen pizzas on hand in the freezer, which I normally do particularly for these occasions. You know those days when you’re just tired and done for the week, and all you want to do is eat, shower, relax, and go to bed? Yup, for those kinds of days and today was that kind of day. I mean I had enough energy to whip up a decent meal especially because I dared not to give in so easily and bend my budget with takeout, delivery pizza. So, homemade was the way to go!
Fortunately, I had one of those premade Pillsbury canisters, that you pop out the raw biscuit dough, in the fridge which I thought would suffice as the crust. I found a jar of pasta sauce, which was probably meant for next week’s spaghetti meal prep but oh well that’s okay. Onions, bell peppers, cheese, olives, and salami were also ready on deck. I was supposed to make a simple chicken salad with the seasoned chicken boobs, but there is no salad dressing, and I am not about to eat a naked salad. So, of course, the chicken ended up on the pizza too.
To make the crust, I combined all the biscuits into one blob and flattened it out into the shape of a round pizza. As a side note, it’s worth mentioning that you should flatten it out quite thin and precook the crust (the biscuit dough) …then add your toppings and finish it off back in the oven. You’ll thank me later lol. The thicker you leave the crust, the longer it will take for the pizza to cook; and if the toppings are already on your pizza, they will potentially burn as those will cook faster than the crust.

Taste wise, it was a good dinner. The idea was so spontaneous, but it turned out great after all. I had thought that it would turn out softer than what an actual pizza tastes like because it was biscuit dough. However, the edges crisped up quite nicely. My only moment of sadness was when I had to throw it back into the oven because the dough was still undercooked in the middle.
Although I forgot to take pictures to document the process, I at least managed to get some video footage instead. This picture quality isn't the greatest because it's basically a shot off the video, but I'm sure you get the point. It was a random, last minute, homemade decision that turned out A-O-K.
Overall, the night turned out great. Dinner time was fast, quick and easy, with minimal dishes to clean. I’d say it was a perfect setup to be able to relax and enjoy the Friday night with a little small business work and a movie to end it all.
