Dear Sister,
As you probably know, I went to a craft fair this past weekend. It was a fun activity to do on my day off to see what it was like to get all excited at the thought of unknown finds, of handmade goods and snacks, as a customer instead of being the normal “vendor” as I usually am at these events. Of course, I saw something and instantly thought of you. I made my rounds to the other booths, returned to this one, bought it and thought it would make a perfect Christmas gift.
This cute pair of earrings are what I think (and hope) a useful gift you will like and use. I’m still certain that your ears aren’t pierced, so I had to ask the lady who owned this booth to switch out the earpieces to clip-ons. Thankfully, she was able to.
As I look at these earrings, I am reminded of how much you’ve grown up. In some ways, one might think that these earrings are a bit “baby-ish” to be wearing at your age, where I don’t think that thought would matter to you, but in a certain light, you still kinda are; a baby that is.
Either way you slice it, you’re getting so big and older too, and I can’t believe it because it’s astonishing and because it means that I too am getting older. I remember carrying you around when you were just a little potato. Now, I dare not carry you LOL.
Anyways, my point is, keep being you. The weird, unique, authentic you. May your authenticity keep your spirits young and shield out all judgement from others. Even if you outgrow the imaginary age suggestion for these earrings, keep wearing them anyway because you like them and it makes you feel good. And most of all, stop growing up so darn fast.
