5 General Tips to Know When Visiting Disneyland
1. Consider the Park Hopper
You can purchase a Standard Ticket, allowing you access into the park for just the day or for up to 5 days. The longer you stay, the less you pay per day. For example, a ticket for 2 days will cost about $128 per day, versus a ticket for 5 days will cost about $76 per day.
Note that this ticket you are purchasing is an admission ticket to enter only ONE park, either Disneyland or California Adventure. However, to gain access to both parks in the same day, you can upgrade to the “Park Hopper” ticket.
The Park Hopper ticket is a bit pricey, adding an extra $60 to your bill, but you get the perks of both parks all in the same day! So, you can start your mornings off at Disneyland and then at 1:00 pm, use your Hopper ticket to enter California Adventure.

2. Take advantage of Early Entry
If you’re a guest staying at one of the Disneyland Resort hotels, you can take advantage of early admission to the park. With an exclusive 30 minutes before opening, it’s the perfect time to plan for rides that normally have longer lines during the day. Be ready to show proof of your active hotel reservation and theme park admission tickets upon entry.
3. Download the Disneyland Mobile App
This app is a must have when you’re at Disney. It serves as a map of all the rides and attractions, while showing you their individual wait times. Within the app, you’ll find the Disney Genie service, which is where you’ll mobile order food, make dining reservations, purchase the Lightning Lane, previously known as the “Fast Pass”, and access the Photo Pass features.

4. Pack a Day Bag
With all the walking you’ll be doing, I’m sure that carrying a bag around is the least of your desires. But, in my opinion, I would suggest packing a bag. Doing so was very convenient and helped me save money!
You don’t need a huge backpack, just a small one to fit some snacks, a water bottle, a hat and maybe an extra shirt for after Splash Mountain.
5. Stay Updated on Local News & Weather
In addition to knowing the general season you’ll be traveling in, such as the Summer or the Winter season, it is best to stay updated on the current weather. Especially check the week you are to travel. I failed to stay informed and therefore found myself cold at nighttime, wearing shorts in 50–60-degree weather!
